
Ingredients
For Sadza
- 1 cup (250ml) white maize meal (cornmeal)
- 4 cups (1 liter) water
- Salt to taste
For Stew
- 680g beef stew meat, cubed or Chicken Cubed
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Monty’s Onion and Tomato Mix
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 potatoes, cubed
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 500ml beef or chicken broth or water
Method
Sadza
- Boil the Water: Bring the water to a rolling boil in a large pot.
- Add the Cornmeal: Gradually sprinkle the cornmeal into the boiling water, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
- Cook and Stir: Reduce heat to medium-low and continue stirring until the mixture thickens.
- Season and Serve: Add salt to taste and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the sadza reaches your desired consistency. .
Stew
- Brown the Meat: Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add beef and brown on all sides.
- Add Monty’s Onion and Tomato Mix and garlic, cook until liquid evapotates
- Add Vegetables and Seasonings: Add carrots, potatoes, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer: Pour in beef broth or water, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1-2 hours, or until beef is tender.
- Serve: Serve hot with sadza and sides of choice.
