Ingredients

For Sadza

  • 1 cup (250ml) white maize meal (cornmeal)
  • 4 cups (1 liter) water
  • Salt to taste

For Stew

  • 680g beef stew meat, cubed or Chicken Cubed
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Monty’s Onion and Tomato Mix
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 potatoes, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 500ml beef or chicken broth or water
Method

Sadza

  1. Boil the Water: Bring the water to a rolling boil in a large pot.
  2. Add the Cornmeal: Gradually sprinkle the cornmeal into the boiling water, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
  3. Cook and Stir: Reduce heat to medium-low and continue stirring until the mixture thickens.
  4. Season and Serve: Add salt to taste and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the sadza reaches your desired consistency. .

Stew

  1. Brown the Meat: Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add beef and brown on all sides.
  2. Add Monty’s Onion and Tomato Mix and garlic, cook until liquid evapotates
  3. Add Vegetables and Seasonings: Add carrots, potatoes, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Simmer: Pour in beef broth or water, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1-2 hours, or until beef is tender.
  5. Serve: Serve hot with sadza and sides of choice.
