Sadza & Stir Fry Beef

Ingredients

For Sadza

  • 1 cup (250ml) white maize meal (cornmeal)
  • 4 cups (1 liter) water
  • Salt to taste

For Stir Fry

  • 500g beef, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • Soy sauce
  • Oyster sauce
  • Sesame oil
  • Cornstarch
  • Salt
  • Pepper

For Tomatoe & Onion Salad

  • 100g Monty’s Tomato & Onion Mix
  • Fresh coriander, chopped
  • Lemon juice
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Method

Sadza

  1. Boil the Water: Bring the water to a rolling boil in a large pot.
  2. Add the Cornmeal: Gradually sprinkle the cornmeal into the boiling water, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
  3. Cook and Stir: Reduce heat to medium-low and continue stirring until the mixture thickens.
  4. Season and Serve: Add salt to taste and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the sadza reaches your desired consistency. 

Beef Stir Fry

  1. Marinate the beef slices in soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat oil in a wok or large skillet.
  3. Stir-fry the beef until browned.
  4. Add the onion, garlic, and bell peppers. Stir-fry until softened.
  5. Serve hot with the sadza.

Prepare the Tomato and Onion Salad:

  1. Combine the diced tomatoes, onion, and coriander in a bowl.
  2. Drizzle with lemon juice and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Toss to coat.
